Neville Longbottom – An Underrated Character in Harry Potter

Harry Potter is a widely popular series that features a handful of beloved characters. While some are always being talked of, there are others who have failed gained their apt share of attention and credit. One such character is Neville Longbottom, who has a great hand in determining and setting the series of events in the right order. Lost among the herd of characters including wizarding students, headmasters, house elves, Death Eaters, this character has some special characteristics that make it worthy of attention and few word of appreciation.

Neville Longbottom can be credited and remarked as a character who is humble and principled, courageous and generous. He has played his part as a faithful friend and a consistent supporter. He was also shown struggling with self-esteem issues and was initially portrayed as nervous, gauche, and forgetful. He later on became the character he got recognised for, thanks to the support and encouragement he received from his friends and Professor Lupin. As a viewer/reader, everyone got inspired from him to act as a keeper of hope and say optimistic in life no matter what.

He firm support for Harry never shook and he always stood by his side even when no one else believed in his potential. Neville never fled at the outlook of real danger and fulfilled his responsibility of working on things even when he wasn’t asked to do so.

He acted as a character in this epic, who never quit the scene even when the things were not favourable. During the course of events when his were abducted and tortured, he chose to stay at Hogwarts as 2 Death Eaters took the classes. He worked on keeping the candle lit praying for the return of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
